Moving
Tips
Prior
to your move:
When packing moving boxes please have lids closed, this saves room and
allows for secure packing inside of the moving truck.
Get rid of items you don't need before the movers arrive. Dispose of hazardous materials.
Make a list of items located in the attic, crawl spaces, closets and any other
storage areas not readily available for viewing by the moving crew.
List items that will need special handling, this includes glass table tops, marble
tops, taxidermy and heavy mirrors or pictures.
Check the access for loading and unloading at each stop for the move.
Can a 16' or 26' moving truck legally and logistically park within 75 feet of your front door? Will parking spaces need to be blocked off prior
to the moving truck arrival?
Provide
phone numbers at origin including motel, new home, cell phone, and work.
During
Loading and Delivery:
You will be given a moving date for loading and unloading your residence.
Make sure you are present when loading and unloading occurs to ensure that all services are performed to your satisfaction.
Check the
entire residence at origin before the truck leaves to ensure that nothing was
left behind or was taken by mistake.
If part of your move goes to a storage facility make sure that all items are clearly marked.
Tour the new residence before the moving crew leaves to ensure everything is positioned
in the proper place and all items which were disassembled are reassembled.
Final payment for your relocation is due upon delivery.
